Kakana Kote is an Indian Kannada biographical drama film adapted from Masti Venkatesh Iyengar's stage play of the same name. The film plot tells the story of Kaka Nayaka, who was instrumental in stopping the exploitation of tribal people in the Mysore district against the tax payment from middlemen who were representing the ruling kingdom government.

C. R. Simha (1942 - 2014), was a celebrated Indian actor, director, dramatist, and playwright who shaped Kannada theatre and cinema. He began his career with the Bengaluru theatre group Prabhat Kalavidaru and became legendary for his long-running performance in Tughlaq. A recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2003), he acted in over 90 Kannada films, including SAMSKARA (1970) and BARA (1983). He made his directorial debut with KAKANA KOTE (1977), followed by SHIKAARI (1981), SIMHASANA (1983), ASHWAMEDHA (1990), and ANGAYALLI APSARE (1993). He also featured in MALGUDI DAYS, leaving a lasting cultural legacy.
