CHINA SEA KINŲ JŪRA JURGIS MATULEVICUS

Martial arts champion OSVALD accidentally injures a girl on the street and is expelled from the sports federation. Unable to travel and participate in tournaments in Asia, where he is famous, Osvald is forced to stay in his desolate hometown in Eastern Europe, tormented by guilt. He spends his days in a cheap Asian restaurant “China Sea” owned by his only remaining friend, a Taiwanese immigrant JU-LONG. Attending group psychotherapy sessions prescribed by court, Osvald meets a mysterious woman SKAISTE and feels intensely drawn to her.

Jurgis Matulevičius (b. 1989) is a director, screenwriter, and editor from Vilnius, Lithuania. He graduated from the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy with a degree in film directing. He has worked with well-known Lithuanian film directors Šarūnas Bartas, Algimantas Puipa, and others. He made 4 short films: ABSURD PEOPLE (2011), ANIMA ANIMUS (2012), VICTIM (2013), INTERROGATOR (2015), which were seen and evaluated well by critics, festivals, and audiences in Lithuania and abroad. ISAAC (2019), his first feature film, was Lithuania's official submission for the Academy Awards (Best International Feature Film).
